It’s hard to believe that Sega’s old mascot will be celebrating his 26th birthday this year. Once the driving force of one of the most innovative computer companies in the world, today Alex Kidd is nothing more than a forgotten footnote on the history of a games publisher who has seen better years.
Well, Kidd wont have to celebrate alone because Sega is pulling out the vault and is porting a bunch of vintage titles to the Microsoft Xbox 360’s LIVE service, according to a recent classification rating. Super Hang-On, Golden Axe, Golden Axe 3, Streets of Rage, and Streets of Rage 3 will all be getting the port treatment along side Alex Kidd in Miracle World.
Classifications were also granted to Wonder Boy in Monster Land, Wonder Boy in Monster World, and Monster World IV – a game previously only released in Japan. It’s also the sixth and last game in the Wonder Boy series. Wonder Boy also started his life in 1986 in the arcade, before moving onto home consoles.
Of course, all these titles have not officially been confirmed by Sega just yet, so we’ll have to wait for exact release dates. We’ll keep you updated.
