Sony have let slip, probably intentionally, that Call of Duty will be hitting the PlayStation Vita this Spring (Autumn in the States).

Sony’s SVP of PlayStation Brand Marketing spoke to Game Trailers in a video interview that his kids a loving FPS games and “in the autumn, they’re really looking forward to Call of Duty on Vita, and we think that’s going to be an absolute game-changer for the platform.”.

Call of Duty was actually announced for the PlayStation Vita last year, though Activation have not released any further details. Since the franchise has become more of a business in itself than a game, it’s little wonder that the wheels would be in motion for a close-to Holiday season release; the question gamers would have on their mind is what version of which game will show up on Sony’s new handheld?

Call of Duty: Black Ops has been rumoured to be getting a sequel this year, and of course there’s Modern Warfare 3, which will continue to sell well throughout the year. Exactly as likely is the prospect of an older Call of Duty game getting a modern release, but time will eventually tell.

PlayStation Vita launches in Australia this week.
