The developers over at Vigil are excited about Nintendo’s new High Definition video game console, the Wii U, and specifically about it’s unique controller that houses a touch screen.

So excited, in fact, that they’re bringing upcoming Darksiders II to the console, as announced at E3 this year. Speaking to ONM, the developers shed some light on the Wii U version and outlined that this will be no simple port of the PS3/X360 version. While the team have already achieved “visual parity” with the other consoles, Vigil want to use the console to the best of it’s abilities;

“Y’know, you could just throw in anything just to throw it in but we want to make sure it really works. So far we have visual parity with other formats and it’s been easy to port over, but making Darksiders 2 for Wii U is about using the system.

“In the end it’ll have such as unique control set – we think it’s the best we can make for Wii U, but will it be definitive? You tell us when it comes out!”

The Wii U is set to be released in the back half of 2012, so we may have to wait a while before we can see all these improvements. Darksiders 2 will be released sometime after April 1, 2012, suggesting it may be a launch title for the Wii U.
