EA Announces Battlefield 3 Multiplayer Beta (This Time It’s Real)

The word “apology” is thrown around a lot these days… Unlike that fake announcement earlier this month, EA Games have actually announced a date for the Battlefield 3 Multiplayer Beta.

EA Games will be giving all gamers (with an Xbox 360, PC via Origin, or PlayStation 3) the chance to participate in the beta on September 29. But don’t take our word for it (really, we understand…), here’s the official press release;

DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio today announced that the Battlefield 3™ multiplayer beta will open to all gamers on September 29, 2011.

Players from around the world will have a chance to experience the game that industry critics have hailed as the ‘Best Online Multiplayer Game’ before it ships on October 28, 2011.

The beta is set in Paris on the Operation Metro map, where players work their way from lush parks on the outskirts of the city to a dark, bombed-out metro station, to the vibrant streets around the Paris stock exchange.

Two elite tactical units square off in the series’popular Rush Mode. One side takes the offensive by attacking M-COM stations while the opposing squad defends and protects.

It get’s better – those who have pre-ordered the digital version of the game from Origin will be able to download and access the beta early on September 27. The early access also applies to those who pre-ordered the Metal of Honor Limited Edition.

Further, EA are also opening the Battlelog to beta testers – a free social media network that allows gamers to communicate and compete with friends, track their stats and share their progress. The social network is crossly available over different consoles and mobile devices.
