EB Games will be holding a host of midnight launch parties across Australia to usher in the Nintendo Wii U.

The retailer confirmed today that many of their stores across the nation will be open to greet the Wii U’s launch at midnight with many opening early the following morning (November 30) at 8am to ensure shoppers can get their hands on the new console before work (otherwise known as “National Sickie Day”).

The participating stores will fling open their doors (unless otherwise noted below) at 10pm on November 29 to give customers a good spot in the line. Usually at these events, the staff power up some units to play and host contests, but that will be down to the stores to decide on the night.

For those who want the big launch experience, perhaps the biggest may be in Melbourne at EB Games Swanston Street which plays host to the “Nintendo Experience” — an entire floor of the store dedicated to Nintendo products. It’s likely to be the “main” location for the “official” launch, so if you’re in the area, you should try to get your pre-orders arranged at that store!

Nintendo Wii U launches in Australia on November 30 in two flavors: the Basic Pack, which comes with a white console with 8GB on board memory, retails for RRP AU$349.95 and the Premium Pack, complete with a black 32GB console, game and accessories, comes in at RRP AU$429.95.
