Nintendo are gearing up to launch the all new Wii U – the company’s first ever high definition video game console that is controlled with a unique touchscreen controller. This controller has been a major source of excitement amongst video game developers in recent months and now The Secret World developer Funcom has added their two cents.

Speaking to Official Nintendo Magazine UK, Funcom developer Joel Bylos said that Wii U could be the first console that does MMORPGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games, like World of Warcraft and Starwars: The Old Republic) without compromise.

“Wii U could be the first real console on which running an MMORPG without compromise is plausible,” Bylos told the magazine. “The controller is perfect for lining up those rows of hotbars that are essential in most MMOs. A customisable touchscreen interface combined with the 3D spatial movement of a console controller could be a winner.”

Nintendo plans to unveil all it’s launch plans for Wii U at E3 this June.
