Prepare to get mail, in 3D! Nintendo have announced they will release a new application for the Nintendo 3DS this week that will allow users to send messages to their friends on the console.

Messages will of course contain text and/or photos, which includes 2D or 3D images. 3D videos have not been confirmed, but we can dream, right? The application, called “Swapnote” will appear in the Nintendo 3DS eShop this Thursday and will be free to download and use.

The application is mighty sweet icing on the Nintendo 3DS cake which since it’s release has received free updates to include new features, such as an internet browser, a QR Code reader and a 3D Video recorder. Nintendo have also released 20 free games to those who have purchased the console since day one, and is preparing to release “3D Classics: Kid Icarus” also for free in various countries in the world.
