Players Collect Over 50 Billion Coins in New Super Mario Bros. 2 (Nintendo 3DS)

Nintendo have announced that players of New Super Mario Bros. 2 have collected a global total of over 50 Billion coins in the game.

In total, over 50,610,416,353 coins have been collected by players from all over the world, according to a SpotPass notification sent out to players today.

In New Super Mario Bros. 2, players have to guide Mario through the Mushroom Kingdom in search of Princess Peach who has been kidnapped by Bowser, but there’s a twist. The game is literally flooded with coins to collect, the ultimate goal is to reach 1 Million coins.

Nintendo will also be releasing a series of new levels for New Super Mario Bros. 2 based on “feedback” from players of the game. The publisher plans to charge a small fee for the download.
