Surprise! New Pokémon Game Arrives this Christmas

A fresh take on a fan favourite launches this November

Nintendo randomly surprised the millions of fans of the Pocket Monster collection society overnight by revealing a brand new duo in the popular Pokémon franchise.

The titles — Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire — are set to launch worldwide in time for Christmas this year, with a November 2014 window pegged.

The couple will be only the second games in the series to see a simultaneous worldwide following last year’s Pokémon X and Y release which represented developer Game Freak’s efforts to localise game content during the development phase.

Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are said to be ‘fresh takes’ on 2003′s Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire which launched on the GameBoy Advance. The new titles “promise to take players through a dramatic story within a spectacular new world,” according to the official release.

Details on the new titles are scarce so far however The Pokémon Company did release cover art for the titles, which you can see below.

Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are set to launch worldwide on Nintendo 3DS systems in November 2014. Are you excited to revisit the Hoenn region this year?
