Nintendo have officially announced the release date for the 3D remake of the game that many have praised as the greatest video game of all time, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

North American Nintendo 3DS owners will have to wait until June 19 to get their hands on the 3D edition, which features updated gameplay and entirely overhauled graphics. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is an action adventure game, following the story of Link who must travel backwards and forwards through time to save the huge world of Hyrule and it’s beautiful Princess Zelda.

The game was originally released to much fanfare in 1998 for the Nintendo 64. Since then, Nintendo have released the same game on the Nintendo GameCube and Nintendo Wii (via it’s virtual console download service). This will mark the first time the game has been completely re-built for a new console.

In addition to the main title, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D will include the “Master Quest” variation. Master Quest allows players to progress through the same game with much harder dungeons and quests. An Australian release date has not yet been confirmed, however the Australian Classification Board has recently granted a “G” rating for the game; an interesting decision considering the original title has always been rated PG.
